Compliance & consumer rights

Know your rights before sharing a report, signing an agreement or choosing a service. This overview is not legal advice or a certification of CRX's compliance.

CROA disclosures

  • You can dispute credit report errors yourself for free.
  • Accurate, current and verifiable information cannot legitimately be removed just because it is negative.
  • Credit repair organizations cannot charge or receive payment for agreed services before they are fully performed.
  • A written agreement must describe the services, total cost, timing and cancellation rights. The required “Consumer Credit File Rights Under State and Federal Law” disclosure is separate from this website summary.
  • You may cancel a credit repair contract within three business days without penalty or obligation. Services must not begin before that period ends.

FCRA: your right to dispute

You may dispute inaccurate or incomplete information with the reporting bureau and the company that supplied it. Include the specific issue and supporting records. Investigations generally take 30 days, with up to 45 days in some circumstances; results generally follow within five business days of completion. Disputes do not guarantee a deletion or a score increase.

Get reports through the federally authorized AnnualCreditReport.com. You do not need to buy credit repair services to exercise your rights.

Important limits

AI can misread documents. Verify every fact before mailing a letter. No score increase, removal or financing approval is guaranteed. Monitoring updates require an approved provider connection; automated certified mailing and card payments are not connected yet. Additional federal telemarketing rules may apply to credit repair sales. Billing after 30 days or labeling a charge “software” is not, by itself, proof of lawful billing.
